Cub Scouting is a family program for boys that are between 1st and 5th grades. Tigers: age 7 or in 1st grade Wolf: 2nd grade Bear: 3rd grade Webelos: 4th and 5th graders
OVERVIEW:
A Cub Scout or Webelos Scout is registered in the world's largest youth organization- Cub Scouting is a division of Boy Scouts of America.
Here's how it works:
Each Cub Scout or Webelos Scout is a member of a den.
Each den meets weekly.
The dens meet together to make up Pack 468.
DENS: Den Leadership: Each den is led by a den leader, generally chosen among the parents of the scouts in the den.
Each den (except Tigers) require an Assistant Den Leader, also a parent. When a leadership vacancy occurs within a den, a new leader from within that parent group will fill the vacancy.
Training is required for den leaders, providing a base upon which to build and deliver a quality program. Den Size: The target size of a den is usually between 6-8 boys.
A den needs to be split into 2 smaller dens if it exceeds 8 boys.
MEETINGS: Den Meetings: Den meetings are held weekly at the Elks. Den leaders may choose to go on a field trip instead of having a meeting on that day.
Den meetings should be attended regularly to receive the full value of the program. Please check back with your leader if you are unable to make a meeting, so you can receive the current info and materials missed.
Pack meetings: Pack 468 schedules a pack night once a month; the last Monday of the month.
Some months are replaced by other pack events, such as the Pinewood derby. Pack nights consist of our awards and recognition towards the scouts, followed by a snack for everyone. Parents and siblings should accompany the scouts; guests are welcome.
FEES:
The pack operates on a budget. Annual registration fees go towards awards, pins, pinewood derby cars and registration fees to Boy Scouts of America. All fees must be paid by the first week of December. In case of financial hardships, special arrangements can be made. Quarterly dues is in addition to the registration, which covers projects and field trips for each den.
ADVANCEMENTS:
Parents are encouraged to work with their scouts in conjunction with den leaders. Advancement ceremonies will be held at the monthly pack nights. The pack strongly supports the Sports and Academics Program for the scouts. Den Leaders submit the request for awards to the Advancement Chair.
OTHER AWARDS PROGRAMS:
Our pack supports the Religious Program. There are awards for each religious denomination. We also encourage the families to work on the BSA Family Award. There are many more.... Call us for more information.
